Isel’s Story
I never set out to become an artist, though the love of art has always lived quietly within me.
For twenty-five years, I devoted my life to neuroscience—exploring the mysteries of neural plasticity and consciousness on an international stage. It was a world of inquiry, intellect, and discovery.
Then, with cancer and chronic illness life as I knew it suddenly unraveled. Everything I had built and knew came crashing down, sending me on a journey inward—a journey of healing, transformation, and ultimately, return.
It was there that I rediscovered what my soul had been calling me to all along.
Through art, I found a way to express what words could not hold. Painting became my language of truth. It anchored me in the present moment, and in that stillness, I learned that transformation happens swiftly—if we allow it.
Art is now my meditation, my practice of presence.
It is meditation, movement, and memory—woven together through layers of color and depth.
When I paint, I begin with a feeling and a foundation in neuroscience, and then I listen deeply. From there, I simply follow—without question.
A Different Way Of Seeing
I was born with a different way of experiencing the world—one shaped by deep sensitivity.
Sounds often felt too loud, lights too bright, and conversations would blur into a tangled hum.
But within that sensitivity also lives great beauty.
Silence carries a weight and a wonder beyond words.
It allows me to notice the subtle details and hidden patterns of the natural world—things that often pass unseen.
It reveals not only the beauty of what surrounds us, but also the vastness of what lives within.
From the age of eight, painting became my refuge—my source of peace, solace, and direction when I needed it most, and it returned to me again not so long ago.
My work weaves together the realism of the natural outer world with the abstract inner world realms of consciousness, emotion, and belief.
It is not created to complement an interior, but to be experienced—to resonate on the frequency of your mind, body, and soul.
NeuroConscious Realism
Isel’s art is a visual meditation on the interplay between mind, matter, and emotion—a meeting point between the seen and the sensed.
Rooted in her background in neuroscience and guided by intuition, her work explores the invisible patterns that shape our inner and outer realities.
Through the lens of Neuroconscious Realism, she seeks to translate the language of the brain and the whispers of consciousness into form and colour.
Each painting becomes a living field—where thought becomes texture, energy takes shape, and emotion reveals its own architecture.
Her work is not only to be viewed, but felt—a sensory and soulful experience that invites the viewer to slow down, to see beyond sight, and to sense the quiet intelligence that exists within all things.
The Process
I work in layers—of wax, oil paint and natural pigments and textures.
Some pieces come alive in a single breath; others unfold slowly, over months, asking for patience and silence.
I’ve learned to trust the space between sessions—the quiet, the doubt, the waiting. That space is part of the work.
What you see in the final piece is more than pigment and brushstroke. It is time. Thought. A thousand choices made, unmade, and remade.
And when the painting is ready—when it finally exhales—I know.
